Why a peptide blend has no CAS number
CAS registry numbers identify defined substances, not mixtures. What that means for specifying multi-peptide blends correctly — and what a single CAS on a blend listing tells you about the supplier.
Browse enough research catalogs and you will find multi-peptide blends listed with a single CAS registry number. It looks like thoroughness. It is a category error, and it is a useful thing to be able to spot.
What a CAS number actually is
A CAS Registry Number is a unique identifier assigned by the Chemical Abstracts Service to a specific, defined chemical substance. It exists to remove ambiguity: a compound may have a dozen names across literature, trade and regulation, but one CAS number.
The operative word is defined. Registry numbers attach to substances with a determinate composition — an element, a compound, a specific polymer, a defined mixture with fixed composition. They are not assigned to arbitrary combinations that a supplier decides to put in one vial.
Why a blend cannot have one
Take a preparation containing BPC-157 and TB-500. Both constituents have their own registry numbers — 137525-51-0 and 77591-33-4. The combination does not acquire a third number, because the combination is not a new substance. Nothing has reacted. There are two molecules in a vial.
The same applies to any multi-component research blend, whatever it is called commercially. A trade name identifies a product. It does not create a chemical entity.
If a blend listing shows one CAS number, one of two things happened: the supplier reused a constituent's number to fill the field, or they invented one. Neither is reassuring, and both suggest specification data on that listing is being treated as a formatting requirement rather than as information.
How a mixture should be specified
By its constituents. Each named, each with its own registry number, with the quantity of each stated. For a two-peptide blend supplied as 5 mg of each component, the honest specification is:

That conveys strictly more information than a single fabricated identifier, and every element of it is verifiable independently.
The same logic applies to molecular weight
A blend has no single molecular weight, for the same reason. Molecular weight is a property of a molecule. A vial containing two molecules has two molecular weights, and averaging them produces a number that describes nothing.
A certificate of analysis for a blend should likewise be legible as to which constituent each result refers to. A single purity figure for a two-component preparation raises the immediate question of what was measured — one peak, both peaks, or the combined area. Those are different claims.
Why this is worth checking
Specification fields are where suppliers reveal whether they understand what they are selling. Sequence data, molecular weights and registry numbers are all independently checkable against public reference sources, and the cost of checking is a few minutes.
A supplier that leaves a field honestly empty, or replaces it with the correct constituent breakdown, is telling you something. So is a supplier that fills every field regardless of whether the field applies.
